In Honour and Memory.....

...of those who were killed and wounded

He who has gone, so we but cherish his memory, abides with us, more potent,
nay, more present than the living man.

* Dear Laura~

What a beautiful thought to pay your written homage to the tragic events of Saturday. We live here, and the entire community is in a sort of "daze". The location where "it" all happened is a "main intersection", and always very busy, so many pass thru/by it very often. I had been there just on Friday, the day before the shootings, and had to pass thru there on Sunday. I choked up and could not even look at that corner... all the cordoning off of the area, all the police cars, all of the cars that were IN the parking lot when it happened, are still there, and we will never forget... we can't.

How many times have we all heard "... but things like this don't happen in OUR town"...

Thank you for "remembering"... we are all, as are most Americans, incredibly shocked and almost unbearably saddened, but, we will survive.

Our hearts go out not only to Gabby, but to the six who savagely and needlessly died, and the other 13 who are, luckily, still with us...

Again, thank you for your beautiful concern shown here...

Most sincerely,

NOTE: I "found" your blog just now because again, for the third night in a row, I can't sleep... all any of us can do is just pray... Again, thank you and warmest wishes to you...

Dear Linda,
Thank you for the heartfelt comment. I also live in Tucson and am shocked and saddened by these tragic events. My children have both met Gabrielle Giffords at an event at their school. She came to talk about renewable/solar energy. My own daughter is 8 years old....I so feel for the Greene family and for ALL the victims families. The only thing we can do from here is try to learn where mistakes lie....in the mental health field, in gun control laws, in our social atmosphere. There were red flags, but nobody recognized them. As I tell my own kids, we learn from our mistakes. Let's hope we, as a collective society, have learned something here, and that the death and injury of others will not go in vain.
Peace,
Laura :-)
